unless you arrive at the gate between 7:00 AM and 8:00AM (mind you the gift shop is at the beginning and doesn't open until 9:00 AM) There is an entrance fee of $15.00 (unless you have a season or senior citizen pass in which case it is free) and during most months you will need to have a reservation to drive the one way loop and go to the visitors center. It will become obvious immediately why this area is named Red Rock! You will see the history of massive land mass movement where long long ago the land shifted and lifted forming the mountains in the area.
